Dr Razali was formerly the Chairman/Senior Consultant of K-Spatial Sdn Bhd, a geospatial technology service provider company, for two-and-a half years. He holds a PhD (1985) in Wood Science from the University of Wales, Bangor, United Kingdom. His Master of Science(Wood & Fibre, 1976) from the University of Washington, Seattle and the Bachelor of Science (Forest Products, 1974) from Oregon State University, Corvallis, USA. He obtained his Diploma in Forestry (1972), a basic forestry profession exposure, from the Institut Teknologi MARA (currently Universiti Teknologi MARA,UiTM), Petaling Jaya, Selangor. He started his career as a teaching and research faculty member of the Faculty of Forestry, Universiti Pertanian Malaysia (currently Universiti Putra Malaysia, UPM) in 1976. His field of expertise is in the wood science and technology and agro-industrial forestry. In 1994 he opted for early retirement whilst holding the faculty position of Associate Professor, to join Golden Hope Plantations Bhd.(currently Sime Darby Berhad). He was then a member of the Management Team overseeing the development as well as the technical progress in the production and marketing of wood-based panel products utilizing home-grown rubberwood at the Golden Hope Wood Complex in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan. Later he was based at the R&D Division in Banting and the Head Office, Kuala Lumpur, taking charge of the Wood and Agroforestry Unit. The Biodiversity Restoration work in Carey Island, Selangor was initiated by the Unit and a good number of forest tree and herbal species, both indigenous and exotic to the island, were planted…an important facet in sustainable plantation business.

Dr Razali re-joined the academic world in 2006 as Professor, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Universiti Teknologi MARA, upon retiring from Golden Hope in 2005. He continued his passion in teaching and research in the utilization of agriculture biomass/wastes and low-grade tropical hardwoods for the production of inorganic-bonded panels and glue laminated timber manufacturing, as well as the development of agroforestry and community-based forestry. He has authored/co-authored over 80 articles for journals and conferences, and travelled widely in the course of conducting the wood-based businesses, attending conferences and trade exhibitions.
